I just started up my new 40 breeder and everything is running great except the noise coming from the inner portion of the overflow box is pretty significant. I raised the height of the emergency drain already and that did help some but I can still hear the water trickling through the teeth and down. Any one have a trick to quiet it down?
Tank info: 40 breeder with eclipse S overflow with a gate valve on main drain to 20 long sump
Jebao dcp 3500 return pump running at 40%

if the emergency drain is higher than the top of the hole that allows water from the tank to the overflow box, noise should be little to zero. If it's still not, you may be running too much flow through it and should either reduce your return pump speed or upgrade to the eclipse medium. I use an eclipse medium on my 50 gallon frag tank, check out my tank thread if interested.

Is your return pump adjustable? Try turning it up, the water is exiting the internal overflow faster than the pump can fill it. need to up the water level in the internal overflow and then adjust your gate valve accordingly.

I’ve increased my pump to 75% about 690gph and adjusted the gate valve back to a trickle in the emergency overflow and even though the water is up to the top of the weir teeth there is still a considerable splashing sound

And you've adjusted it to where the water isn't falling anymore, correct?

I’ve raised the level in the main tank to the tip top of the overflow anymore and it’ll be going over the rim. Also I’ve increased the water level in the overflow box to the rim as well. Each adjustment of the pump I retuned the main drain with the gate valve back to a trickle in the emergency drain.
