Thanks y'all. I think given the conditions I will probably have to take the chance. Either that or not QT at all.....

I would definitely prefer you QT. You don't have to change the location, just be aware :) Knowledge is power!

Blowing a fan (or two) in front of the QT might be enough to deflect aerosolized droplets (although I cannot guarantee that). Being you already have an 8 foot buffer from the DT.

The only other thing I can think of (besides using a glass top) is to create a "visqueen wall" by taping that to your walls/ceiling/floor. Wife probably won't like that though. o_O

It's in the fish room so I can do what I want! Lol!

How often and much are you feeding your fish while in QT?

Also is there any preventative medication I should add during TTM or just wait and see if needed?

I think prazi pro is the only thing you would want to use proactively/preventatively. I just used it on alternate tank transfers (so, I dosed it on transfers 2 and 4).

+1 On the Prazipro. Also, feed just 1x daily.

I think you are missing the copper. ;) Oh, and fish in both tanks at the same time to get more into the DT faster. I call this my improved TTM for Velvet. :p

Looks like you are trying another method that won't work on Velvet!:p

I use a cashmere filter to treat velvet. It's much softer than velvet...

I did TTM then got hit with Velvet.
Cupramine for me from now on. As much as I hate to stress the fish I hate having a fallow DT and them going through another round of QT then havin to wait till the DT is ready.

Are you saying the TTM didn't work?

My only concern would be the potential for droplets to transfer from top to bottom tank.

Huge longshot, but Murphy and I are long acquaintances, and if I can mess something up, I usually will.

As usual, your setup looks awesome, Rev!
I was thinking the same thing. Also allegedly the parasite can somehow "travel" 10 feet away per @Humblefish. I have no reason to doubt it, just an interesting thing to note!

From what I have read, TTM treats only Ich not Velvet. Madcanary, did you get Velvet during TTM?

Rev didn't link to his original thread but these fish have lived life in ich management conditions so the likelihood of velvet is minimal, but ich is very very likely. So this is preemptive so that he can keep more ornamental and difficult fish and keep parasites out of his beautiful new DT altogether. If these were new purchases treating for velvet would be imperative, IMO
