Hermit on ponape ?

Have a hermit crab that is always on top of my ponape birdsnest colony. He doesnt seem to be hurting it. Anyone seen that before? Or have an idea of why it would do that?

I constantly have hermits on top of my birdsnests and digitata with no ill effect.
