I used to work with a company that did radiology imaging for nearby zoos and vets, they absolutely treated all animals like patients, including following all HIPAA requirements.

Actually after they took the scans bloodwork was not recommended because they ended up finding what was hopefully the cause and didn’t want to add more stress and sedation.

To reply to my comment! He didn’t pop it was a hamster that was squealing and screaming! Lots of noises coming through that door and anxiety in the little exam room wondering about how he is.

I can tell you my other fish are having the time of their lives out and about since the tank boss and big fish is not in the tank! Enjoy it while it lasts guys! He is coming back in a week or so.

I saw the first few pages of this thread when it started, and imagine my surprise to jump into the 7th pages to look at...xray scans?? Okay I need to go back and see what happened here!

I can only imagine this poop? Right? I have to go back to the vet now. They are going to test for parasites! I never thought I would be doing this lol! I never also ever paid any attention to Hewbie’s poop color lol!

Looks like it could be.

Was it a "clean capture" or did it sit on the bottom of the tank for a bit? If the latter, the vet is going to need to know how to differentiate between possible parasites and normal detritivores.

They should be able to identify parasite eggs, coccidia oocysts, tapeworm segments, etc. as those are going to be similar to those seen in pet animal stool samples.

It was not a clean capture! And I actually just talked to them they aren’t 100% confident it actually is poop! They want me to wait to get a clean capture! Just one issue I don’t have all the time in the world to sit and wait for Hewbie to poop! I mean as much as I spend hours watching him!

Is the fish still in a QT tank?

And I think I posted in one of my posts about possibility of internal parasites, that can’t be over looked. And I see that is something your vet also wants to look into.

So I just talked to them I will give it to them in the event it is. I strongly suspect it is. They had given me the option and the conversation actually started off with, “We don’t want to waste your time or your money!” This is a fantastic thing to hear from a vet.
