Hello, I’m Nate from Central PA, USA. I’m currently in the process of getting my first tank set up, which I’m super excited about. Just a few parts left and we’re there!

As I’ve been researching, reef2reef constantly has been in the search results, and I’ve enjoyed reading through the various discussions. This community seems incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. So, I figured I’d pop in and join!

To anyone viewing this thread, what’s a piece of knowledge you wish you had known when starting?

Welcome to your new home for saltwater reef aquarium resources and fun! Welcome to the family! :D

Welcome Nate, glad you are here! I started in the mid nineties, not a lot of information to be had so I relied on information from my lfs. Just because someone works at an lfs doesn’t mean they know a thing about reefing. Do your own research.

Oh come on, you know you can keep a trevally in a 10 gallon. As long as the LFS says so, it's gospel! 😁

Welcome Nate!!!!👍

Welcome to Reef2Reef!!! My advice would be to focus on being a water gardener first. If you get the water right, then the fish and corals are a whole lot easier.

Hi Nate - welcome to a fantastic hobby. It's unlike any other you will come across

Learn everything you can. Be patient. Don't ever make any drastic changes to your water, and test your water regularly, as well as making 10% weekly water changes

If you ever need help post your questions on R2R. Lots of wisdom here!
