Hitmans 600 gallon predator build

So I did a water change on the holding tank today and found my refractometer was way off. I had to go buy a new bottle of juice as everything tested 35ppt. Guess what all 3 tanks were at 30ppt  just made 200 gallons of 40 ppt water to use as top off water until tanks get back to where they should be. Seeing I go through 8 gallons a day of top off water between all 3 tanks I should be back in line in the next few weeks. Just upsetting that a bottle I bought 3 months ago is so off. Bottle was brand new unopened as I bought it for the big move and I new I was going to be testing the heck out of the water.

Careful - if you’re topping off with 40ppt your salinity will raise quicker than you think since normally top-off water is fresh.

Now, if the 40ppt was going into something like an auto water change system that’d be different.

Per the salinity calculator once all 200 gallons is used as auto top off water I’ll still be low.

Perhaps I'm thinking about this wrong... but if you use it as ATO, wont there be a snowball effect on SG? Not a smooth slow dose?

If not, it's a great idea. Never thought I would want to deal with the math to figure out how to adjust SG through my ATO.

Doing the math wrong like I did yes, if I would have done it correctly then no. I’m lowering the mix way down now.

Got the frame, the front of the 240 canopy mounted up, ATI T5 fixture, 2 of the Skimz SS18’s and the mounts for the 72” reefbrite Actinic XHO done. Light shows to be arriving tomorrow so I’ll have to add it to tomorrow’s to do list. Between fish runs, and getting the Tangs and Yellow Belly Dogface Puffer settled into separate QT set ups I didn’t get nearly as much done as I hoped too.

Any news with a broomtail wrasse? Saw one at a somewhat local store that looked amazing and fell in love again lol!
No we have not been able to source one.
My Harlequin Tusk will be here this week though.

Oh and the Dog Face Puffer and Panther Grouper are playing Odd Couple. ( Awesome show for those of us old enough to remember it lol )
