My Vectra M2 return pump will be sent for repair and it will take a while before I get it back. I bought a Jebao DCP 10000 pump as temporary remplacement (and back-up).

My tank was custom made and installed by the LFS and I have never installed a return pump in a sump. The pump is attached to flexible hose, as per my request, to dampen the sound, if that makes a difference.

Here is my question : what is the best way to install the new return pump knowing the Vectra M2 will have to be reinstalled ?

Please be specific as I have close to 0 diy skills and experience.

Thanks !

I would just use hose tubing that fits your outlet and zip ties.

Thanks. Do I need to remove the existing flexible hose ? Do I pull on it or cut it ? Or is there any way to leave it in place and keep using it ?
If you can use it on your temp pump just keep it as is. You only need to remove the bottom portion then. Do you have a check valve? I would try and slide it off the fitting after removing any zip tie on the vectra

No I don’t but my sump can easily take all overflow from the tank and even a complete ATO reservoir fill.

Would there still be a need for one ? I never heard about check valves on return pumps.

I have one on mine but not sure it is necessary because the sump can handle the water drop if needed as you indicate also.

I would just detach your current set up from the vectra outlet and see if you can slide that hose on your temp pump outlet and secure with a zip tie.

You will need to monitor or adjust pump flow to keep your sump and tank water levels consistent to what they are now.

Yes, with tax.

Ouch, lots of dealers in the 400 range.

In the States, yes, but I’m from Canada. With the exchange rate, customs and shipping, I wouldn’t be saving much, if anything.
