My clown has ich so i’m moving my clown and it’s paired mate to a quarantine tank. that leaves some snails, blue legged hermit crabs and a few berghia nudibranch in my tank along with SPS/LPS, softies in the tank. How can i keep my nitrates up while the fish are being treated in a separate tank? do i have to do anything? do i ghost feed the tank daily? i would prefer not to dose nitrates if i can avoid it. thanks in advance. i will likely have to leave the tank fallow for at least 8 weeks from what i’ve read online.

You can ghost feed your main tank while your fish are treated separately.

Did you get confirmation of the Ich diagnosis from the R2R Fish Medic guys? Sometimes things look like Ich, but they are not.

It’s not ghost feeding if you have shrimp. You better feed them or they could munch on your coral

I did not. I will get a picture once i get them into the quarantine tank and before i dose anything. where can i find the reef medic guys?
Just type #fishmedic and they should see this post. I'd suggest posting some clear pictures of your fish with the whitest lighting you have (turn your blues off), to help the guys make a fast assessment.

Ghost feeding will raise nitrates AND phosphorus. If you don't want to raise both, then adding nitrate is a better option. Of course, as said, some of your invertebrates are going to require regular feedings anyway.
