I would love to have a wrasse someday, when I was a kid Iw as fascinated by the possum wrasses and have always dreamt of having a yellow banded possum wrasse. I got to see one for the first time at one my LFS’s and was very tempted, just as cool as I thought they would be!

However I’m really trying to only have captive bred fish in my tank, I think I could be talked into making an exception though:eek:

So far so good with my captive bred cleaner and I’m tempted on the biota harlequin tusk too

I have a six line wrasse in my overflow so I picked “other” lol! I have caught him and put him back in the tank like 3 times now. Pretty sure he prefers the over flow so I’ve officially given up on keeping him out of it. At minimum, now I can get a different wrasse species!

I currently have a Melanarus and had a yellow Coris but I lost it in my tank move. Melanarus is a model citizen and great for pest control. I'm planning on adding a Choati and a Filamented Flasher in the near future.
Do have any dwarf angels with your Melanarus. I read they are not compatible and I would like to add a memxnarus. I have a bells angel. Thank you.

Have 5 wrasse in one of my coldwater tanks, 4 different species (ballan wrasse, goldsinny wrasse, rock cook and a cuckoo wrasse). Lively fish, and I love them all.
We need photos! I assume you caught them around either Ireland or Scotland.

I LOVE the 7 wrasse I currently have in my DT. They all get along with each other and all other fish in the tank. All of my wrasse were purchased from Dr. Reef:

McCosker's flasher
Linespot flasher
two Radiants
Exquisite fairy
Yellow Coris
Leopard

I've been contemplating having a QOTD today or not. I'm sitting here in my Reef Therapy hat and Reef Builders shirt (thinking about Jake) typing and deleting and retyping again. It's proving to be very hard to try and "get back to reefing" considering the recent loss of our friend Jake Adams but this week I think he would be happy with the topic we have planned from the beginning of the year and would want us to continue to learn and share. Jake really knew fish and he knew his wrasses so let's talk about them today!

Do you have at least one wrasse in your reef tank and if so which one?

Follow up: Are you happy with your decision to include wrasse fish into your aquarium?

Great topic, and yeah jake knew fish ad his wrasses, corals well anything about the hobby.
Don't recall a time where I dodnt have wrasses in each of my tanks.
Display is currently at its lowest wrass load:
Piscilineatus my latest addition and very lucky to have it
Magma wrass
Negrosensis turned male unfortunately
Pintail wrass
Orange back
Bipartitus also unfortunately turned male

My cube tank has a single wrass a coati. Want to add a couple.more but worried about aggression on coating as it was a very hard to find fish here

My 5 tanks in the basement have wrasses as utility fish mostly melanurus and six lines.

I’m one of the many Wrasse lovers on R2R.! Current stock:

Eight Line Flasher, Rhomboid, Lineatus, Labouts, Tri-Color(Lubbock’s), Hooded Fairy, Equisite, Pink Streak…recently lost my Orange Back (avatar photo).

They provide tons of personality and great colors for my tank!

I have a Melanurus and a Mystery Wrasse. Some territorial squabbles initially but not so bad now. Mystery was in first and it was the one causing the problem

I have a VERY shy possum wrasse. When he makes an appearance, it makes my day.

I have one wrasse, a Mystery Wrasse. She's my pride and joy. I have been thinking about a Six Line or a Melanurus, but the risk is scaring me since I will protect the Mystery Wrasse at all cost. I don't know if I am overreacting or what. My tank is 75g.
