How much sleeping area does a small Halichoerus wrasse need?

In a 36X 18 footprint what is the minimum area I should supply with 2 inches of sand for sleeping? Just a small area?

Is 2 inches of sand height enough?
 
Are you just putting sand in a small area in an otherwise barebottom tank?
 
No, but only want to put 2-3 inches in a small area, but enough where the halichoerus is comfortable
 
Enough to cover his body is all that is needed, both for depth and coverage.
