How much water does your tank evaporate each week and how large is your tank? Do you take any precautionary measures to limit the evaporation amount?

I go through about 30 gallons a week on a 240 gallon tank. Feel like that is a lot, but in my past set up, I didn’t monitor it as closely as I do now. My Rodi used to run to my ato non stop refilling it. After I moved, I had space for a small fish room so I switched from a 5 gallon bucket to to 32 gallon brute can. I let it run out before I refill. Which is also WAY better for your RoDi cartridges!

For me it is about 5-8 gallons per week on a 120-gallon. 7-8 in the summer when I am running a fan across the top when the temp rises.

Roughly 30g/week with my 280gDT + 40b.
I have my RODI in the garage and pump it to a 15g ATO container. Fill it about 2x-3x/week.

I go through about a litre per day on my evo 13.5 now that the lid is off and probably about 4-5 gallons a week on my 65 gallon tank. I feel like my evap has doubled since the house has been closed and furnace on.

Yeah. Something is odd with the amount I evaporate in a 240 gallon tank. It is a cube so there is a large open area and the sump is a stock tank which also has a large surface area. The tank is in the basement where it is cooler but who knows….

Do you have a dehumidifier in the basement? I had to put a glass top on my qt because it was evaporating probably 0.5 gallons or more per day. Turned it off and the evap went down a ton.

I do not. havent had the need for one I have thought about a top for the tank but then I would have to wipe the water from it daily so it doesn’t impact par or grow algae

In the summer when my house was around 74 my Reefer 250 went through 5+ gallons a week. In the winter now with an average temp of 63 in the house it's only 2 or 3 gallons a week max.

sorry. Didn’t think that through. Never setup a poll before and I just thought if I have a 10 gallon container and use it weekly then I use 10 gallons instead of calculating a percentage.
here you go…I use about 13.3333% of my tanks volume each week via evaporation. Or 1 32 gallon brute can that I fill weekly. ;)

Sounds about right for your water volume. I have two tanks plumbed together 80 frag and a 50 innovative plus a 40G sump total about 150 gallon and I fill my 15g auto once a week. I also have a 180 with 40 g sump but for some reason that one I can top off 15g ago every other week, the latter is kept about 1-2 degrees cooler than the former though 78 vs 76, somImthink temp really plays a role
