Yellow dwarf angel or yellow coris wrasse

Not sure why the hate for yellow tangs. These are some of mine and you can spot their bright yellow from a 100 yards away

VetteGuy, you were one of several who gave me good advice that led me to get 3 yellow tangs to add to my tang mixed group. Thank you, they look amazing.
We all just live once...so why not be happy....
Your tangs school look amazing....Love it...
I think most of the problem is the $500.00 dollars fish stores want for Hawaii tangs that are upsetting people. I kinda agree.
I do see many captive breed for like $125.00 if your able to score one...SO I guess demand is high still for them...

yellow coris wrasse
Just going to put this out there, Yellow CORIS wrasses aren’t in the genus Coris, they are instead Halichoeres chrysus. Certainly add a bold yellow to the tank, but they aren’t 100% reefsafe and have a chance of going after your smaller inverts.

Yeah, wrasses and jumping is a nightmare, I have 5 and I can’t say I’ve not had one try jump. I now have 6 fish (5 are wrasses) in my 4’ tank that are escape artists, the newest one is a flashing tilefish… in my nano I had my naoko try jump whilst I was cleaning the glass

I love these yellow wrasses too. have one in the 140 which is going in the 300 along with my leopard wrasse. They really don't bother my cleaner shrimp or hermit crabs...

I’ve heard some can but I think they gain the reputation from the larger halis (Jades, zigzags ect..)

I also love the yellow tang, but prices are crazy high for a pale 1 to 1 1/2 inch juvenile tang.
I instead picked up a mimic tang juvenile, nice yellow color until they change to adult coloration , even more beautiful. Also called a chocolate Tang

I love all three of the mimic tang species, my favourite is chronixis and if I had room and wasn’t already planning for one of the 4 powder tangs (7 if you include their hybrids) I’d get a juvenile chronixis

I prefer fish that don’t naturally school or shoal and pair or live in harems. IMO these pair or small group based social structures make them more well-suited to captivity on average, with exceptions of course. And fish that swim in and out of rockwork rather than ones that travel long distances in the wild.
If give the choice of never having a Tang or never having an Angel, I’d choose the former without doubt.
