I have noticed 2 seperate frags of zoa on oposite ends of the tank have been closed up alot lately.Upon closer inspection I have found some hydroids.

1.How do I get rid of them?

2.How could I have got them,I have not put any new stuff in lately?

Thanks for all the help

Get a pair of tweezers. Get the zoas to close up and then use the tweezers to remove the hydroids. When I had them I turned off my pumps in case the hydroids got loose while bringing them up out of the water. Make sure to remove the stringy parts too. Any root like strings left behind will start to bud new ones. Good Luck.

Just hitchikers...I would remove them asap since they will multiply like weeds. They will sting and cause the polyps to stay closed/melt. If you can remove the frag from the tank and place in a small bowl this will be easier as well while removing them.

Thanks I have them removed but they have been in the system for about 3 months, why all of a sudden?

So they wont take over my tank or what?I have had my tank for about 9 years and nothing new has went in for like 3-4 months so I am not sure where these guys popped up from.
hey lazy thanks for the kind words on the avatar.
