Hydros Maven is Delayed

While waiting I’ve decided to get a KH Guardian with AIM module. I’ve had it running for a few weeks and works well. Only downside is I had to give up my ORP probe so I could monitor alkalinity. No big issue as I don’t run ozone anymore. It’s nice to be able to control my Kalk reactor using the Hydros controller now.

Kind of crazy that we're coming up on two years since this was announced and it doesn't seem to be coming, but also not killed officially?

Although I can say, based on my experience with Focustronic, I can see why this would be a complex system to build and sell.

it’s not easy I would imagine to get it working. I am glad it’s not rushed. Ion director came out and first batch heard was a nightmare.
I though they have it working now

I would guess that complexity is not so much the issue as much as finding the balance between accuracy and production cost is. While the chemistry is well known, going to production and QC are likely also costly and need to be outsourced.

I have no proof, but would imagine they have come to realize there is a lot more to jumping into this game than they thought and most of it aside from the basic design of tester.

While transparency on their part would be nice, I don’t envy their position or desire to stay quiet. It would not be the first piece of vaporware that never made it to market, but I think it eventually will.

I seem to recall a few heated threads on the tech that Neptune Trident (reagent) and GHL (probe) used. In respect to this thread here I believe your note about realization is spot on. It very well may be that or that they are trying hard to engineer their automation to match manual results across kits. Since hobbyist for some reason want them to match...

Hope your evening is well.

I would throw out that tariffs have very likely thrown a huge wrench into the costs and the original price point they discussed internally can’t be met

Maybe announcing a $1500-1600 tester with recurring monthly costs isn’t as easy to sell as many think

That might be impossible since when I was testing with several manual test kits and iV for alkalinity they never agreed with each other but for the most part they were within a +- .3 range form each other except for a few outliers but they would be back on the next test. So don't expect any of them to be the same all the time.

No different than buying two Tridents, except that you can buy the Tridents one at a time. 🤷‍♂️

I do not disagree. I was trying to say maybe that is what Hydros is doing since hobbyist want things to match. General assumption I know but it is not uncommon to see posts asking for help along these lines.

Me personally, I have both Tridents so know the drill. They are mother/source of record and that is it.

It is a luxury item. Or quality of life. Not needed for success just as any of the other automated solutions or controllers are.

Having said that, they will be sold without issue unless the product is canceled. I don't see that happening. We didn't see GHL doing that with the ION through its troubles. It is in full production supposedly and one can't find much information on it to this day. /shrug

There is not an unlimited market for them. They will initially sell out to those that have been waiting for sure. CoralVue could also limit supply to make it look super popular. Classic Apple trick.

But many companies in the hobby are being hit hard with tariffs currently and I was throwing out that CoralVue may not have planned on those in the initial discussions (that started last century at this point 🤪)

Every 2 years I get notified of this thread and delays, should be here before 2030 I'd imagine.

😆

It’s not going to happen that’s the truth update
I was giving them the benefit of the doubt and had high hopes, but I tend to agree that’s at this point with no word from coralview that most likely it’s not going to happen.

I hope that I am wrong…

given the fact that they announced its release I would think they would eventually release it.good or bad
