Just purchased this trigger , have it in a bucket to start acclimation.

Have a question , would it be possible to slowly decrease the salinity in the bucket with RO water over the course of a couple hours ? Then put him straight into a hypo QT setup at 1.010 ? Or how quickly can I lower to prevent shock

Thanks

While fish can be reduced in salinity faster than they can be raised, that is a bit too fast. You can lower the salinity from full at 1.025 to 1.020 in a couple of hours, sometimes faster. I'm not sure that this is a constant scale though - most fish seemed more stressed as they make the later transitions to 1.009.

Here is my article on hyposalinity treatments:

Hypo works well for marine ich and flukes. It will sometimes work on Brooklynella. It makes Uronema and Velvet worse though.....
