...well kind of....

I'll admit, my tank is a little tacky but hopefully that will change as my tank matures.

On the 19th day of cycle and ammonia has zeroed out a couple of days ago. Now waiting for nitrite to do the same.

I'm on day 21 of my son's freshwater tank and his is actually a little behind mine.

BTW please do make suggestions as I am new and would love any input on making my tank better.

Your welcome!

Here's another on QT. It's best to have a QT tank to have a way to treat for diseases/ parasites etc....

https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/how-to-quarantine.232/

Thanks. I have a 15 gallon Fluval edge that I'm going to use for QT.

I'm actually going to use this method.

https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/my-current-qt-process.483371/

I'm thinking for the first round of fish (pair of Gladiator clowns)

14 days of GC+focus food
14 days of copper power

Transfer to display tank and two round of GC.

Then for any new additions they will need to go through 30 days of copper or 14 days as before and transferred to a second QT for the two rounds of GC. I actually have an unused 20 gallon Long so maybe will do it the latter way.

I'm looking at my tank and can't help but think that I have too much rock. That it is too dense and all the fist I want to get aren't going to have a lot of swimming room.

This is my potetional stocklist.

First will be the two clowns and the rest one at a time.

2x Gladiator Clown
1x Flame Angelfish
1x Azure/Kupang Damselfish
1x Hoeven's Wrasse
1x Yellow Watchman Goby
1x Leopard Toby Puffer

I'm thinking maybe I should remove this rock. It isn't doing anything and would show more sandbed.

Same idea with this rock

For the front I'm wondering if I should take off this top slant rock or leave it. The bottom rock is also pretty wide around. Wondering if I should try to shave it down with a hammer and screwdriver. Idk just some ideas I'm thinking about.

Phillip, I don't think it's too much rock. However, I'd do a very minor change (suggestion) to give you more surfaces to set corals.

Pull the lower rocks forward a little bit and take the upper rocks and set them so the are still on top of the lower rocks, but also toward the back and let them lean against the overflow at the back. The sloped front surface will be much easier to set coral onto than vertical surfaces and it allows the light to cover the surface better evan as corals start to grow our from the rocks creating some shadows.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm afraid to scratch anything since the tank is brand new. I may wait to do this until further down the road.

Nice tank! Ate you going to be adding real coral at some point or just fowler?

My rough plan is FOWLR at least until all the fish are added. Maybe after 6 months to 1 year in I may start to experiment with some easy coral and go from there.

This is totally subjective but those sps colonies might look more natural high up on the rocks. Something to consider, but you have all the fun of creating your underwater world!
