Does anyone have the IM desktop ghost skimmer? Do you like it? Would you think about swapping it out? To what?

I recently stopped using my ghost skimmer, always micro bubbles and it would go crazy after maintenance and it would take at least 3 days for it to start skimming again. Went with an Aquamaxx Hob 1.5

Thanks for the info. How long did u have the ghost?

I have one sitting around not being used. I would not invest in another.

An ATO is a must have with this skimmer.

Doing routine water changes will be more effective.

Tunze makes good skimmers.

Anyone know if the tunze 9001 will fit in the back of a IM nuvo fusion 20?

I used for 6 months, finally accepted my losses and its just sitting inside my cabinet. That tunze should fit in your tank, i think it goes in sideways with the magnet on the side of the return chamber.

So that's 2 solid Nos to the ghost. Good to know as I found one at a legs cheaper than online.

I love my ghost skimmer. I guess I’m just lucky. It does everything it’s supposed to do and it’s actually made for our nuvos. I think it mostly comes down to tuning and patience. After the initial two weeks breaking in it has worked perfectly.
On another thought, a protein skimmer does not constantly produce skimmate every single day. Sometimes people assume that it’s not working because they’re not seeing foam and don’t realize that maybe there just isn’t anything to skim in the first place, especially if you have mechanical and chemical filtration in front of it. My water passes through filter floss, chemipure, and matrix before it gets to the skimmer. Along with my water changes and light fish load (pajama cardinal, tailspot blennie), the amount of organics dissolved is light. Research realistic production of foam from the different skimmers and you’ll get a better understanding of what I’m saying. Melevs reef and Mr saltwaterfish on Youtube have really good videos on the subject.
