I've decided to start this thread because while these tanks seem pretty popular and I have notice quiet a few others getting them second hand or even new. When making my build thread and commenting on others, there were some comments about making us a club. This is that club. Much of this is taken from an older post on another forum, but that forum isn't too active these days.

Pros of the Tank:

  • 30 Gallon Capacity Allows for Heavier Stocking and a Somewhat (Though Not Much) Larger Margin of Error for Beginners (When compared to the Nuvo 20 or other nanos)
  • Long Footprint Allows for End-to-End Viewing
  • Shallow Enough that It Could Be Used for a Lagoon
  • No Plumbing to Worry About
  • It's a Nano!
  • Modern Rimmless Design

Cons of the Tank:

  • No Sump, so Equipment is a Squeeze
  • Price- Many Will Opt for a 40 Breeder With Sump
  • Stock Pump is Noisy
  • Stock Filer Socks are Crap
  • Not Ideal for Small Spaces
  • High Evaporation Rate
  • Low Default Water Level Means It Holds Less Than 30 Gallons

The Bottom Line:

If you like long tanks and the simplicity of an AIO, this tank is for you. If you're more of a cube guy/gal, do yourself a favor and get a Red Sea Reefer or IM 40.

Awesome idea!

Thanks. I was hoping that anyone with a Nuvo 30l could just post a link to their build thread so there is a comprehensive resource for any one new wanting to start one of these tanks. I know that when I was looking for information that I would have appreciated something like this here. Feel free to discuss any modifications, equipment or livestock here.

I am particularly interested in documenting how each of us have set up our filtration compartments. Fitting equipment and refugiums is one of the challenges of an AIO.

Great idea, listing all the possible upgrades and additions to this unique tank.

Maybe you can add 1/2in Random Flow Generator Nozzles with 19mm to 1/2in Slip-it Drop adapters under the "Common used equipment / Easy Mods" section ;)

LOL - let me know how we can help. Depending on where you are, you're local fish store may have it in stock. if not most of the top online retailers have it and you can also get it directly form us as well :)

@ReeferReefer - thanks for adding the RFG to your list

No worries. I had actually been considering some rfgs for my build but that would be down the road when my budget recovers.

So everyone just clamps to the back of the tank?
I've got ai hydra 26s on the hms single arm mounts. I had one hydra mounted with the flex arm mount, and after using both I can say I wholeheartedly recommend the single arm mounts over the flex arms.

I am not planning to cover the filter area. It could be cool to have some custom acrylic cut for each filter compartment but it sounds expensive lol.

I am simply using Kessil gooseneck mounts for my lights.

What did you have in mind exactly?
