I’ve been looking at the IM 200EXT for quite some time. It has nice footprint, and the price is unbeatable. The only downside is the sump that comes with it. It basically takes up the whole cabinet space leaving not much room for a CaRX.

I’ve only seen one instance of a failed seal through these forums. That failed seal resulted in a replacement that also busted. Maybe I didn’t search hard enough.

Help sway me to pull the trigger, or run away.

Good tanks

Solution to problem. Get the 200 ext PENINSULA.

Measure the space to the left of the sump. Trim this off the pipe so sump can be installed flush to left of cabinet, then you’ll have several more inches on the right side

The peninsula is really nice, and I’ve thought about that. But the only thing is the back of the tank will be against the wall. I don’t want the plumbing to be visible on the side, the missus wouldn’t like that, unfortunately. I don’t really want to go tinkle with the non-peninsula’s plumbing either.

Ahhh too bad. That would be an easy mod on the peninsula.

Do you know how many inches are on the side of that sump? Could a reactor fit there, or share the skimmer section?

Hi,
I have the IM EXT 170, and just did some measuring. Both the 170 and 200 are 30” deep, and both use the same sump, so you should have the same space that I have. From the front of the sump to the inside edge of the door is a bit over 8”. A 10 lb CO2 canister is roughly 7”, and a 20 lb. one is about 8”. I think you will be fine.

Also, I have roughly 3.5 inches at the ends. Your tank is 12” longer, so logic suggests that you should have a minimum of at least 9.5” at one end.

I would call Brian to verify, but can’t imagine that the 200 would be any different from my 170.

Hope this helps!!!

You could buy the tank+stand kit without the sump for about $750 less and then just get whatever sump you want,,, no?
*more to deal with like return pump and maybe some of the plumbing but I was reading your post as if you'd prefer a different sump
