Hey everyone,
Glad that I found this group as it’s helped me start my journey(again). When I was younger I experimented with a few tanks and for the most part was doing ok.
I had a 55 non drilled that I setup and maintained for awhile. Unfortunately I had a catastrophic event in the tank that wiped it out and was unable to afford to start again. Now I’ve got myself up and running again.

so far so good, I had a good initial cycle and slowly added my friends list that I had in mind.

the setup
30g main 20 sump
Bubble magus skimmer
1 filter sock
Some rubble sand and a few bioballs I. The sump.
I tried cheato but it slowly died off.
4 of the porous blocks I can’t remember their name right now.
2-200gpm returns
Heater
165 watt visor spectra with the lenses removed and set 10% white 60% actinic
Glass top with canopy and homemade stand

The friends list
1-snowflake ocellaris
1-orange ocellaris
1-watchman goby
Had a pistol shrimp but he didn’t survive
Today I’m receiving a shipment from saltwater fish.com with 2-tiger pistol shrimp(opinions vary on doing 2).
2-emerald crabs >1”
Misc-cuc hermits snails
1-serpent star
1- unidentified inhabitant that has the skin of maybe a sea slug or a nudibranch. But he hides in the LR and I only get small glimpse of him. Wok on that later
2-peppermint shrimp

corals
1-green hairy mushroom
2-blue mushrooms
1-red mushroom
1-devils hand small
1-green bubble tip small
1-xenia small
2- types of orange zoa
1-red zoa now split into three
1-green palythoa
1-leather
all sorts of pods starfish and other critters

Water has stayed stable and I’m actually leaning toward to much skimming. My skimmer had slowed down immensely and with the cheato not surviving I’m debating on dropping down to the small hang on skimmer for awhile.

I don’t really do water changes because my water always tests perfect. Just a few gallons every now and then to keep fresh elements in for the coral.

novice is a good word for my skill level.

i hope I have you a good rundown on my setup and hope to learn lots.
