So some good and some not so good news to report.

Good:
I had a great Christmas, plenty to eat and drink.
Santa brought me the D & D lens and I've played about with it. Its ok, I'm not a huge fan of the filtered pics. Here's an example of one

189198669437edb1fc691a252d3b0471.jpg

I also done a lot of fragging and the tank looks like it's had a hair cut so was able to get a few pennies that were put to good use- more on that after.

My leopard wrasse has transformed into a male and it's by far my favourite fish at the moment.
It used to look like this

And now looks like this

So the bad news:
Ive messed up somewhere along the lines and ive noticed a few spots on the powder tangs. The tangs have never settled and are always fighting. I should have know better to add the powder brown. So I'm assuming I now have the dreaded whitespot again. Here's the blue showing the spots.

So, I have possibly introduced it by not doing the full recommended 21 day CP treatment on both the powder brown and purple. I cut bot treatments short by a few days.
However, the fish were in for about 4 weeks so I don't think this was the cause. I could be wrong tho.

I added frags from a tank that previously had whitespot (and didnt do a 12 week fallow period) and cheato from 2 unknown tanks. I believe this is likely the source. Either way tho, no one to blame but myself.

So the plan of attack at the moment is I've ordered a fish trap and the powder brown is gonna go because he is the biggest and most aggressive fish.

I've picked up a triptronic 85w UV (9 months old with a recently replaced bulb)from a tank breakdown and I've just installed it. Hopefully this will keep the parasite under control.

If not, I have a QT tank sitting ready to go with meds on hand if I feel I need to, only time will tell.

So I added the trap into the tank yesterday after work with just the mirror in the trap. I had to leave the house for a few hrs and I though I would bait the trap when I was back home.

After leaving the house I got a call 5 mins later saying that my 7 year old daughter had caught the Powder Brown. UNBELIEVABLE!!! She's one smart cookie!

So the fish was caught within 10 mins of the trap being wet.

Said demon, sorry I meant fish, is now in one of my breeding tanks feeling sorry for himself.

So hopefully he will go to a new home this week,(someone who will treat him) if not I will treat him myself and pass him on to someone or bring him to a LFS for credit. It's a shame tho as he is a stunning fish.

The plan for the infected main tank now is pray the UV is able to keep the ICH at bay, ideally until I'm ready to upgrade to a bigger tank.

So fingers, toes, legs and eyes all crossed

So my lesson learnt is no matter how long you've been at this game, or how well your tank is running, things need to be done correctly or there will be consequences!

UV has been running for a while now and all fish are ok other than the PB. He is still eating well and looks/acts in perfect health other than the spots on him.

I've done a lot of fragging in the last few weeks and got rid of some corals that I didn't like or had multiple off. I want to make room for some different species.

I plan on removing a lot of the montipora and some other acros. So this is the tank as it stands at the moment

Lovely.
Those montiporas are eye catchers, but grow big. I would have a hard time to take them out.

So a little update on the PB.

The "whitespot" currently on the fish looks different to my previous experiences with whitespot (Ich). After talking to Chris Viner who has experience with this, we are thinking it could possibly be flukes. As you can see in the pics below they look completely different than Ich

I've also noticed my dusky wrasse picking at the PB which I don't think would be the case with ICH, flukes are a type of flatworm so I'm guessing a wrasse would eat them???

If anyone has any opinion on this please comment.

Current plan is to get some myzaxin and do a FW dip on the fish and see if they fall off and confirm the parasite is actually flukes. To treat the tank I'll buy some Prazipro which is supposed to be 100% reef safe.
