Hi all.

Been a hot minute since I added coral frags. On my new build I have been first prioritizing fish to keep the bioload up. Starting now to add corals. In years past I would dip with bayer but it would seem it’s not possible to get the product any more. Can’t finds a site that will ship in the states now so I’m wondering if dipping with it Is still a thing and if now what are some good alternative for pest control. Found another bayer complete with a slightly different formula and tried it on a cheap 15 dollar frag from the LFS but it killed it so won’t be using. If anyone know a site that still ship the original formula

Old label use to say

Imidacloprid - 0.72%
Beta-cyfluthrin - 0.36%
OTHER INGREDIENTS - 98.92%

One I found at Lowe’s and tested that killed the test coral said

cyfluthrin - 0.75%
OTHER INGREDIENTS - 99.25%

Yes it works and is pretty gentle on corals in my experience.
I’m switching to KCl (potassium chloride) dips from here on out though. This is such a harmful chemical I hate touching it, having it in my home, and disposing of it. From my research KCl works well and is less harsh on humans and environment.

I still use it, readily available at lowes.
The one at Lowe’s shows a different ingredient list now. And killed the test peice I tried with it. That’s what my man concern is. That it’s a different formula now and I can’t find a place that ships the old formula any more. But if you having success with the new formula. Can you advise what ratio you are mixing it at.

Amazon would not ship it to me in California but Lowes did. And it has the same ingredients as the old Bayer, Imidacloprid 0.72% and Beta-cyfluthrin 0.36%. I use 80 ml in 1/2 gallon of tank water for 15 minutes with a small powerhead for circulation. Have dipped many frags in this, SPS LPS and softies, without ill effect.

This link says out of stock but I’ll keep and eye on it.
That's the strangest thing.... it doesn't show out of stock when I click on it. Who knows?......

But I haven't tried the new formula. I get the old formula from Amazon and so far they still have it and ship it.....

if they run out or stop shipping it I guess I'll have to start looking into other options.... but it has always done well for me.

I use same ratio, 10ml per cup, for 10 minutes. Then I do the same with revive for 10 minutes, rinse in between and after with no coral losses.

Dumb question for an old thread: How do you dispose of the dip solution? Just "dilution is the solution to pollution"?
