Hello, I had someone pick some frogspawn up for me today (5 heads). I didn’t get to see it before it was removed from the lfs tank, and I was just wondering if it looks ok. It’s been in my tank for about 5 hours.

I mean that looks pretty poor, but that stuff is also very resilent. Mine survived an ammonia spike and looked worse than that--perked up in a 2x days. Might be worth calling the fish store to discuss. My guess is that it will be just fine in 2x days

edit: may be worth testing your parameters (no2, no3, ammonia, phosphate) and also making sure you lighting doesnt absolutely blast it.

I'd " think" the coral is just fine seeing how it's in a different environ for only 5 hours. Let's see how it's looking in a couple days.

Just looks upset from being in a new environment, should be fine in a day or two.

Looking good.

Frogspawn can get moody at times and may not always extend. I have one colony similar in color to this one that refuses to extend at random times. Sometimes it will stay nearly sucked in for 2-3 days then just when I start to get really worried about it, that little bugger will puff up and remind me just how big it really is.

Looks fine to me. As others have stated, frogspawn can expand / retract / split with no real pattern or logic. Before I lost mine due to a power outage / massive crash, I'd notice it would retract for a few days (more than normal) and then be fully extended and swaying in the waves the next day (usually with a new head!). Until you see substantial retraction and exposed skeleton, I wouldn't be too concerned.

What was your acclimation process?

Forget about rare wrasses or rare anthias, royal grammas are the best!!!
I agree! Unfortunately it developed ich only a day after I added it to the tank, upped the temps (this was before frogspawn), and it went away mostly.

That's the other great part about them, they're strong as hell, his immune system will kick in and he should be fine, but of course keep an eye out!

Update: Have discovered one head splitted (and two new heads on the base of one head). It has definitely grown a lot. Thanks for everyone who helped me in this thread.
