So recently i noticed my clownfish swimming in place and in addition doing a jerking motion, like its twitching or something... could there be an underlying issue? Other than that they eat and swim around normally

They are fighting over who will be the female. In a week or two one will win out and be the bigger female while the smaller male will continue that jerking motion some time afterwards. I have had mine for over 6 months and my male still spasms from time to time. It is a sign of submission from a male to a female.
