I just picked up a birdsnest coral like 3 days ago and in fear of dino (because the plug it was on had dino) I put it through some hardcore dipping. I dipped it in my normal reef pest dip then did a 50/50 solution of tank water and peroxide to kill the dino. The frag is in a medium light area and yesterday lost almost all color. It is very white not looking too good and I thought it was dead.

I was planning on throwing it out tomorrow but during my lights out inspection i see it has full polyp extension all over the frag. My question now is, can this frag be saved? If so what steps should I take to ensure it can recover?

Its bleached very very bad (I thought this was rtn) but I dont think it can be related to my lights because it is under dimmer lights than at the store and in a medium light area.

Sorry for bad photos the glass is dirty at this spot and the lights are out for the night.

Next time just cut the plug off and throw it away. I’m sure dipping it in peroxide was very stressful. I can’t imagine that’s good for coral

I ditched the plug. There was dino growth on parts of the frag. This was unknown until I got it home and looked at it. It was one of those panic moments where I read a couple threads that recommended it and I went with it.
The blasto, zoas, and mushroom handled peroxide like a champ but sps being way more fragile obviously didnt appriciate it. The dip was for 15 seconds I forgot to mension.

It should recover if treated right from now on. I always thought your tank has to be a certain way for dinos to grow out of control so I never worry about it on corals. If your tanks doing well and thriving a little Dino on a frag is not going to become a problem.
