Yesterday morning this torch head had something over it. I below it off and thought it was algae from after my water change. The turkey baster also sucked up some of it. It seems to be back today.

Probably if it went downhill and died in the span of a day or two. Your photos are not clear enough or close enough to tell for certain. Could have just died and bacterial film is on top of what's left of the coral flesh in the skeleton. I would not be blowing it off though incase it's something that can spread to the other lps.

Likely, test vibrio level in your tank,I’ve been using bdellovibrio for treatment lately, and it’s working really well.

How long have you had that coral and how old is the tank?

Any interesting critters in the tank that might bother a coral? I see that starfish seems to have a keen interest in it.

What is generating flow in this tank?

Can you post your mist recent water test results?

I've had that coral fire about a year and a half and it had been doing well. It had split twice. It looks like it spread to the head that just split. Dune more pics attached.

Nothing head been bothering It and I have 2 nero 3s in the 18 gallon tank.

My alk recently spiked, I think because I have been having trouble maintaining pH since it has warmed up and my hvac switched from the furnace to heat pump.

Salinty 1.025
pH 7.5 - 7.8
Nitrate 14.7
Phosphate 0.2
Alk 8.9
Calcium 430
Mag 1320

My biggest problem has been getting ph up abs phosphates down.

High phosphate level and temperature raise to 26℃, check vibrio level, maybe high, my experience.

Iys s custard struggle. It can get up to 0.3 or 0.4 if I don't stay on top of it. It goes up much faster than nitrates.
There's nothing harmful about phosphate. 👍

The alkalinity spike is something I would wonder about... what happened there?
