Just wanted everyone’s opinion. I got this clown on wednesday and he’s just been laying there most of the time. He swims around in the pvc pipe for a little and he goes back to laying like that. Yesterday he seemed more active and he ate a little, also swims in that same spot. I’m a bit new to the saltwater stuff so I just wanted to know if he’s okay? I will post more videos in the comments. Thank you in advance

The swim pattern is not out of sync as Ive seen this numerous time but would like to see the fish itself but the lighting is minimal and its hard to see the fish in whole looking for any imperfections or issues. Need brighter white light intensity

It is difficult to say - first it would be nice to know your parameters, second - the water seems slightly cloudy. However - it looks like normal behavior for the situation

I agree with vetteguy better pictures needed. What’s the flow like in your tank? If strong and aimed at pipes it could be struggling to swim against the current. Plus it’s still acclimating and he’s a little guy to boot.

Closer video would help judge it’s breathing rate.

What did you try to feed it?
Are you sure it swallowed food and didn’t just bite it and spit it out?
Did you see it closely at the store and it wasn’t behaving this way?

The water does look murky and still. You need to monitor ammonia closely and add some aeration (not just circulation).

I'll be the odd one out and say that I don't think this is a normal swim pattern for a clown. Yes, he is probably stressed from being in a new system and trying to swim in a tube. Clowns swim strangely anyhow, but this does look like he is having a difficult time keeping himself straight upright...like he is trying to keep himself from falling over.

I'd check the water parameters and keep feeding him healthy foods and isolated while in observation. If he is continuing to eat, that is a very good sign. Maybe put some plastic aquarium plants in the tank as well to break up the sterile look and make him feel more secure...and turn down the lights while he acclimates to his new environment.

Doesnt look normal daytime behaviour, but as there are no lights etc, it might be sleeping, vaguely thats how they sleep, they are in their chosen spot, swim very lightly/dont swim for 4-5 etc seconds then swim for a second then relax again for a while etc.

As a datytime behaviour it doesnt look normal, as above the breathing rate, better pictures etc might uncover something else.
