I put several new corals in my 9 month old 65 Gallon tank 2 weeks ago. The softies, LPS, and one SPS (montipora) are doing well, but one acro is losing color and the other acro which arrived brown looks like it is bleaching at the base. Should I apply super glue? I'm worried it's too small to frag. I posted an example of what was advertised for this acro too. It has never looked that good. The frags spent a week in the sand bed before being moved up (probably too little flow there). The Kessel also ran a 14 day ramp up acclimation period and is at peak now. It runs a 12 hour day with ramp up/down.

There are several threads on this forum discussing applying glue to the bleached portion up to the healthy tissue to prevent the spread of STN. I am not talking about gluing it to the rocks.

Not suggesting it is the issue but i would inspect very closely for pests as a starter(specifically aefw or eggs). I cant see any evidence of that from photos but always my first thing to check when an acro is dying from the base up slowly.

As for gluing to stop STN i never really had any luck doing so but it is worth a shot i think.

These came from WWC which are notoriously very clean, but they were also dipped in Bayer and I didn't have any pests come off.

Update: I treated this and another new SPS frag with ampicillin q24 for 2 days. The other frag has crazy good PE now and this one hasn't lost any more tissue. I was going to frag it before that treatment, but now that the tissue isn't regressing anymore might it grow back over the old skeleton? This one hasn't shown any PE and hasn't had any color return yet (I know this can take a long time).

How does it look now? Has it got PE back?
