96x36x30 acrylic (¾ all around) with dual purpose sumps (40g breeders) one is refugium and other is for mechanical processing. Not skinned yet but up and running finally.

I have to admit I'm confused by the plumbing in those pics. Can you give us a guided tour of that aspect?

Maybe this can help explain. Drain lines are in blue and return is in white. From the drain it goes left drain to left return and right drain to right return tanks. The 2nd pic will show you the plan. Made it more simple. Left tank refugium. Right mechanical.

Water drains into chamber with heater.
Flows over into filter pad
Flows into main chamber on each tank
Overflows at 8.5" into equalization chamber
Under baffle into return
Return goes up through checks
Combines into 2" through automated ball valve
Through 2" flow meter
Sweeps into Tee back to 1½
And out to tank.

There is a equalization chamber before the pump section. This allows the tanks to equalize height. Or like currently just 1 pump to operate. Other is in my old tank.

Sorry for the horrible drawings i have nerve damage in my hand and it does its own thing.

Well this is one crazy tank! Always love seeing what happens to these huge tanks so I’ll be following along!

Interesting overflow setup. following to see how they work.
Its crazy i know but i designed it to be able to work on. My finished plan is the pic below. But like the tank it will have a twist to design. I have fibromyalgia and cfs that is all part to gulf war syndrome. When im flaring its hard to get out of bed much less work on a tank. Most everything has a back up or possibly 2 in order to deal woth failures. The canopy will have an automated opening function that will be run through the apex pro and stand skin will be completely removable by using flush mounted N52 magnets hold it securely but make it accessible without tools. I can also remove a whole sump without affecting operation

Its just different. Its built with maintenance in mind. Accessible and redundancies built in from the start. Not reinventing the wheel but trying to make it easier to change the tire

That makes more sense now! Thanks!
Yessir thanks for asking. I know it isnt a standard tank setup but its my tank setup my other tanks were kit tanks. Proclear 200 and redsea that was the same size roughly. I noticed on both that i didnt like the plumbing design or setup. IE all 90⁰ elbows. Sump planned for me. Only place to put my uv was in return line so pods got nuked. Small central overflow box never got the protein off the water so it always looked dirty from inside the tank. I ended up buying pig mats that only pick up oil to clear the protein oily layer off the top. So when i needed to go bigger i decided i wanted it my way. Thought about overflows and bottom drilling but that cuts into floor space. I wanted to be able to remove the whole top layer of water. So the oil would be removed. I wanted the refugium to not be a waste because of uv treatment. The uv is closed loop 57w on the right tank with varios 6 pump. ( did that because its the same as on the skimmer so i have a backup if skimmer pump dies) just things like that went into every part of the design. The returns are hittimg the front of tank to push the top water back to the overflow. 45⁰ or sweeps for return to minimize restriction. Larger than needed pipes for the same.

I love the idea. I did this on a prior tank.
Took two pipes to connect them to keep the sumps even due to my flow.
I just build a new sump for the new build I am doing and I did away with all the chambers except the first, the intake chamber from the over flow box.
Having a wide open sump area gave me room to put stuff without walls in my way.
I would keep yours as open as much as you can for future gear and changes.

Have you tried the UV in the overflow line into your sump before the refugium? I'm a big proponent of being able to have 100% of your water flow through UV rather than a fraction. That way if you suddenly have a disease outbreak, you can turn it on and be absolutely sure everything is being cleared out of the water column. When theres no disease, I would suggest only running it for a little bit each day on a timer.

Your your backup pump won't pick up wear & tear as a plus as well.
