Very nice tank Jen!
I was thinking the same 20/14 but could not find a spot for a peninsula tank ;( booo so I will be going with the 25 Lagoon...

like everyone love the scape! ducans are amazing corals they fell out pretty fast a little food everyone in a while help to but just dont over feed. elegance is on my list to they can sting so be careful with other coral placement.

the rock flow looks a little bleached? maybe pic tho. I have one that being a PITA and moved to a low light area but will not move back and is loosing color.

great job and beautiful tank so much fun eh?

Thanks!

Yeah, the anemone looked white with pink tips when I bought it, so I thought that was just it's normal color. I put it in a lit spot, and it moved itself into the shade under the arch before it split, and has stayed there ever since.

I'm feeding pellets to the fish daily (just a few) and Rods Food to the fisj and corals about twice a week. I do water tests and changes every Sunday. It's been really fun seeing things grow and watching their different behaviors. This is my first tank, and I'm still at 0 casualties. :)

I've been looking at the blastomussa as my next aquisition. I am going to have to put a pause on new livestock for a bit as I'm planning on moving in November. Anyone have tips on moving a nano reef?

i bag everything up like when you buy it at the fiat store. put those bags in buckets then drain the water from the tank. have new water ready when setting it back up.

I moved my 10g a few times and I put everything in a styrofoam cooler with a battery air pump. Oxygen in the water is the primary concern for the fish and temp is for the corals. My drive was 2 hrs and everything came through fine.

OMG, I just averted my first disaster. I typically buy my saltwater from the LFS, but I keep salt mix a jug of RODI for top offs.

I was doing my Sunday water change, and I noticed the "wavy effect" the water has usually when the ATO goes off. I'd only put in about a gallon, so I stopped to test the salinity. The salinity of the water I bought should have been 1.024. It was about 1.010!!!

I made sure to recalibrate my refractometer, and retested on my ATO water, and a random bottle of Dasani and made sure those read 1.000. I tested my tank, and it was at about 1.023. It added more salt to my LFS water until it was around a 1.027, so hopefully once it balances with the tank water, I'll land at 1.025.

If I hadn't noticed, I'm afraid the salinity would have gotten dangerously low (1.020) and I would have awoken to a totally dead tank.

I've learned a valuable lesson, always test water I'm about to put in my tank. I hope nothing catastrophic happens.

Note: just checked tank salinity (was letting it flow while I wrote this post) and it was 1.025. *whew*

Hey friends, the tank is almost two months old and I got a few new additions a couple of weeks ago. I got an Elegance, a Duncan, a couple of zoas and a rock flower anemone (which has already split?)

Also, are this hammer and this cabbage splitting?

Most of these corals will bud off new heads and such. Not splitting. I do not believe rock flowers split like other anemones, but rather spawn. They cannot be sexed as far as I know, so you need two or more and hope you have male / female.

Update: No casualties from the bad LFS water, parameters are stable. Feeling good about things. They offered me 25% iff my next purchase, and I'll definitely be testing any water before I put it in the tank.

Also, closing on the new house next week, so get ready for the BIG MOVE.

My Elegance is looking a little limp and withdrawn today, and has has a section of her tentacles "tucked in". She's usually very full and open. I checked all my parameters and calcium was a little low (410) and DKH was 8.5.

The blue pic and s today, and the other pic was when it was eating on Wednesday.

My rock flower anemone was also looking more "sucked into" the rock than it usually does.

Elegance is looking a bit better today, though the "bubblely" part is not typical. The tentacles look more normal though. Also, the 2nd mouth is either new, or noticably more pronounced so I'm just now noticing it.

Hi All,

My ricordia is looking REALLY happy today. Most of the tank is doing well. Ellie is better, my cabbage is in the middle of of a molt. I think the Xenia split. The Duncan is growing a 7th head (I bought it with 4 about a month ago).

THE BIG MOVE to my new house is in Sunday. The LFS gave me some styrofoam lined boxes to move the livestock in. I really hope everything makes it.

Try not to get stressed with the move. The unpacked boxes won't matter. One day at a time.
