Thanks to the sizzling summer gift certificate giveaway that I won. I was able to use that to go towards the purchase of a Profilux controller from @MarineDepot

I apologize for no updates for awhile. Been dealing with arthritis flare ups that are finally under control. Also summer activities have been happening so time to get back at it heavy.

I bought an ikea cabinet that is going to house my controller and other electronics it is on wheels and I’ve counterweighted it so the doors can be open and it doesn’t tip over.

the hdpe background and splash guards turned out looking pretty good I think.

since aqueon only puts 2 bulkhead holes in each overflow there is no emergency overflow options so I went and made my return lines over the top rim and made the original return into an emergency overflow on both sides.

the outlets are split to 2 circuits on each outlet. One of them is switched the other is always powered. The two cables in the background go to the rolling cabinet. Eventually the side I’m taking pictures on will be closed off with other tanks and racking. So the cabinet will be able to roll forward to allow access to the rear of the aquarium for plumbing and any other maintenance. All paneling Behind the aquarium is removable in sections as well.

I wanted to use gate valves, and I will put them in eventually. But 1 1/2” gate valves are ridiculously expensive and I have to order them and I want to have water in this thing soon so these will do for the time being. Also the fact that I’m ridiculously oversized on my plumbing to begin with I’m not so sure it will hurt anything to use them for a bit.

How much space do you have behind the tank? It almost looks like a tiny little fish room - always the dream of all of us! I'm sure you'll appreciate leaving that space in the future when you need to get back there. No crawling in thorough your sump to do something like most of us have to do hah!

I really like how you hung your lights. I know that was months back - but new to me! Are you thinking you might enclose them at all in some sort of hood?

I have 20” to the back of the actual stand. At the most narrow entry point it is 14”. I’m not a small guy lol ,but I can fit through and work around fairly easy. Getting down lower isn’t fun just because of arthritis pain but is manageable. The biggest pain is my current stool doesn’t fit back there it’s 1” to big haha.
I have a whole 13’ x 32’ room to do as I please with so room isn’t an issue. Just venting and controlling any moisture.

For the light creep I’m thinking about making a curtain that goes around because my wife sews. I don’t want a hard canopy because they hold heat and are heavy and always seem to be in the way. I thought about the light hangers because I have several big TVs on them and thought it would be a good idea. Then looked them up on here and found out it wasn’t such a crazy idea.

finally starting to fill this thing up. Have checked all bulkheads and all plumbing is leak free so far. RODI is pumping along as fast as it will go. May have it filled by tomorrow time allowing. Have a couple parts in the mail yet to arrive. But can have water circulating without them.

I have my rock the way I’m going to leave it. Waiting on the cycle now. The rock has been in a stock tank and been putting in microbactr since July so I’m not sure if I’m going to get much of a cycle or not. I dropped in a big 3” shrimp on the 18th and some bio spira, quick start and the last of the bright well bottle so will keep testing daily as long as I don’t have to work.

well tank has been up for almost a month now. Never really had a cycle like I figured. I got a few chromis to get some fish going and a Zoa frag and because the wife liked the name a frog in a blender frag. Also picked up 10 turbos which somehow ended up being 12. Either way they caught up on the algae in a hurry. I love them.

I got my @GHL profilux 3 hooked up and going. Was a little frustrating getting all the firmware updated. I bought a cheap laptop with windows 10 to do it with. It did not want to cooperate for me. I used my old laptop and it worked. It was mostly me being unfamiliar with windows 10. I love it. And I have been trying to tinker with it as much as I can to learn more functions.

Picked up some used jebao wave pumps threw them into the tank to clear out some dead spots. They are on a timer profile in the profilux so they turn off around the time my lights go out and come back on around lights on.
