I just got a BTA and it seems like it wants to hide under a suspended rock (like in a crevice). I thought these guys liked light? Should I just let it be and let me find his spot in the tank?

Also, one of my clowns seemed to host in this anemone - he was all over it. And later has nothing to do with it. Is this normal also?

Clowns/Nems.... there is no "normal" in my experience.

Leave the Nem alone, and eventually it will come out and reach for light etc..... Mine keeps his foot FAR inside a drilled-through rock, and stretches out 10-12 inches to open up on the backside of the rock..... it's just what it does.

How old is your tank?

People are going to need a little more info to pin point a problem.

Tank age, parameters, how long has the nem been in the tank, what else is int he tank, tank size and maybe a couple others.

In general I would suggest to leave it be, they'll take a little while to find their spot and every nems "spot" is different. Let it adjust to your tank without interfering. If you have power heads I would suggest putting some type of protective filter around them so the nem doesn't get sucked into it.

I ask you that because I got my first BTA after 6 month of the tank cycled and it went to the bottom of a rock and never came out. Now after a year I got another one that already split 3 times.

How did you get him out of the rock?

Like I said, never came out. It shrink and die. To get it out I would have to removed all the rocks and will make a mess. But I didn't follow the suggestion of wait to get the tank mature enough to add a BTA.

btas are very unpredictable...they can be in one spot for months then all of a sudden decide to move. I have had experience with a bta moving under a rock a few times..usually they will come up at night to feed in the water column and stay hidden during the day...pretty odd. I got so tired of them being unpredictable that I took them out of my main tank altogether.

I started a Nem tank so I can ramp up my flow in my main tank without having impeding/clogging covers on my powerheads....... plus I got sick of it traveling around and getting too close to other corals.

Everything is normal. The 2nd clown will eventually wants a part of that anemone. You should hope the 1st clown is willing to share.
