Yeah, I'm thankful my family wasn't here at the time. Somehow I got lucky and still have power but my neighbors across the street and in the rest of the subdivision are without. So many responders showed up within minutes. So far there has been no reported injuries. Unbelievable as some houses had their roofs ripped off.
Glad you’re okay and with power

I'm surprised his lawn furniture didn't move. Last year we had a tornado nearby (maybe a mile away) and my neighbor found a Ford pick up on it's roof in his front yard.

I had to drag my sons trampoline off the top of our shed. I don't know where my neighbors trampoline went. I have one of my neighbors sheds laying on my back fence now. I would say it passed by in a matter of minutes though.

Luckily we have underground power lines. I tried to drive down the road and was told by a cop that there were power lines down in both directions so It was going to be awhile before I could get out. I had to get my parents to pick up my son from daycare and stay the night with them because they couldn't get to our subdivision either.

Thank You, Prayers for your community also. We have had 100's of volunteers helping to clean up our subdivision. My wife's cousin lives in our subdivision and they lost everything. Their house was completely demolished. I took this video with my dji drone earlier this week.

That is so sad! We had someone have their house and cars completely gone too. If they didn't have a basement they would've been dead. I can't imagine how scary that would be! It's nice when you see everyone in the community come together.

That's not good especially at Holiday time :(
Glad youre ok. Hopefully no major damage for you ?

Guess I forgot the video. I shot this with my dji spark a couple of days after it hit. My house is at the very end of the video with my son's trampoline upside down. There were a few people taken to the hospital but no life threatening injuries thank goodness.

It's amazing how much damage happens in a short amount of time. Good to see you are ok.

Glad you're ok but what possesses a person to live in an area where this is a possibility?

Well I see your from Virginia. I lived in Newport News, Va for several years while I was stationed in the Navy at Yorktown, Va. I remember the Hurricanes there all too well also. I wouldn't think too many people in the states are excluded from natural disasters either. But having only lived in the North, South, and East Coast I could be wrong, ha.

We ALL live in areas that are challenged by nature (believe it or not) You in Virginia are exposed to hurricanes off the coast. We here in the midwest have tornadoes and all of us choice to live where we do because we love the area. People live near volcanoes and earth quake zones because they would rather live in those areas that they love vs fear "what could possibly go wrong".

Funny Story, I grew up on the water. I think I was swimming before I was crawling. I took up surfing while stationed in Virginia. I remember one hurricane coming thru and their being a mandatory evacuation and all I heard on the radio was 8+ foot waves. So I decided to grab my surfboard and head into the middle of it thinking I would catch the wave of a lifetime. I would say that was the first time in my life I actually thought I was going to drown. I got pulled under and spun around for what seemed like an eternity. My board bashed my head and one of the fins cut into my side. Probably the dumbest thing I've ever done in my life, ha!

I understand things can happen anywhere (I've spent most of my life in CA but moved out here about five years ago) but when it comes to hurricanes, you have plenty of time to get out of the way (I'm just below DC so they're really rare here). Tornadoes don't afford you the same opportunity, they just spawn and destroy. They're probably the only natural disasters that actually scare me.

Wow! I don't know if I would call it a "funny story," but I'm glad you survived it! I think many of us do crazy, dumb things at some point in our lives, especially when young and live in the fantasy world of I'm going to live forever or it can't happen to me realm. Luckily, most of us survive our youthful, poor decisions and live to tell the tale. ;Nailbiting

Gotta say luck was on my side today. I watched as a tornado came straight thru my backyard. It's going to be a long road to recovery though. God Bless.

I'm sorry you had to go through this. I'm very happy you came through it with your life and your property intact. My prayers are with you and all the people who were harmed by this devastating event, especially the families in mourning for lost loved ones. ;Sorry
