I got both treatments to have on hand in case I run into future issues. I’m not convinced I want to treat them with anything yet though. Does this still look like brooklynella? The reddish marks are what I’m referring to.

Yes, that looks like the after effects of sloughing skin. Let’s see what others say.

Yes you have textbook brook. Each hour you are waiting to treat unfortunately reduces your likelihood of saving them dramatically.

Don’t dose formalin in the tank, that will kill the fish this is best used with baths. A formalin bath followed by metroplex for 14 days will do the trick, has as directed on the package.

id say marine velvet - super common and attacks every fish
It’s possible that the fish have both. I was also thinking copper power at 1.75 PPM (use a Hanna copper checker) for 30 days and metro for 14 will do the trick to cover all of the bases. You can use the two drugs together.

I don’t have metroplex. Unfortunately I just followed the instructions on the box and dosed 2 drops per gallon into the qt tank.

I can get some at a lfs tomorrow, but do I need to change all the water out of the qt?
Yes you’ll want to remove formalin. 24 hours may be OK but I don’t recommend it.

I trust your judgment, but can I ask why the package says to dose 2 drops/gal every other day until resolved? It also says you can do a 50 min dip/bath.

They’d like you to use their product. My bag of dog food tells me I should feed my 15lb dogs two cups per day. While this would lead me to use more of their product, it would also lead to a 60lb dog in about a month.

I am sharing with you the best way to treat you fish with the best odds of success.

Good point. Thank you very much. It’s just been confusing and stressful. None of this would have happened if I didn’t dose the Chemiclean. I’ll get the metroplex tomorrow and follow the instructions you mentioned.

Update:

I lost the little clown before I could make it home with the metroplex. The female has made a full recovery and showed significant improvement in just the first day. Everything is back to normal and healthy and I’ll be looking to slowly add more fish soon.

Thanks again for the help
