Picked up the stand from my friends shop and transferred it to my shop.

I removed the doors to prime and paint the stand. Got it primed and one coat of paint.

Tomorrow I plan to prime and paint the doors and get another coat or two of paint on the stand.

I have been sick for a few days and haven't done too much. Doors were primed and got one coat of paint. Yesterday after work I put the second coat of paint on the doors and over night a rag fell from the shelf next to where the doors were drying and ruined the paint on one door. After work today I sanded, re-primed and got a coat of paint on the messed up door.

Here's the doors with one coat of paint

And the stand with the "good" door mounted while the other is drying

Did you use spray or brush-on paint? And how many cans did it take? The reason I'm asking is my tank has the same footprint and I'm building a new stand and don't know what to do for paint.

I used spray for the stand. Everything was first sanded and then primed with rustoleum primer. I believe I used about a can and a half. Top coat is rustoleum gloss black and I used about 3 cans. Probably could have used less if I tried.

The stand looks great!! I agree with the overflow being restrictive on flow, as I encountered the same issue with my Deep Blue 75 rimless. That said, when I added a second Vortech to the other side, all my flow issues seemed to clear up.

Thanks everyone. I really like the foot print of this tank. Can't wait to start plumbing and aquascaping. Still trying to decide on a sump. As far as flow I already have 1 mp10 and plan on getting another. Hopefully it will work out.

Fwiw, mp40 will be the best bet, glass is too thick for mp10's

I was hoping to get away with the mp10's but hearing from a few others it's looking like an mp40 it is. Time to start saving. Hoping to get some more work done on the tank this weekend. Between work and other things I haven't had muc time to work on the tank.

What are you thinking as far as a sump goes?

Not too sure yet. I'm thinking about building one from acrylic. I also have an acrylic sump that's about an inch too long. I may cut off an inch and a half and put a new end panel on it and change the baffles a bit. Still weighing my options.

Got a little extra time today and took it to modify an acrylic sump that was laying around to fit my needs. The sump was too long to fit in the stand and the baffles were set lower than I would have liked.

Here is the sump:

I first cut the sump down by 2.25"

After that I extended the baffles by about 4.5" and put in a new end panel.

Leak test will be Sunday to give the bond enough time to fully cure. Fingers are crossed!
