ok maybe the title is a little misleading but here are my thoughts. has anyone noticed that lichens on land are very similar to corals. they have entrusting. cup shaped. erect forms. they also rely on algae or cyno bacterial for a lot of their nutritional needs. growing on rocks or wood. they also are very sensitive to pollution and most species vanish from cities. they grow slow. are very colorful. if one kept them one would need to monitor air quality and remove pollution for the more delicate types. they also have many creatures that live in on and around the lichens. it's basically a land coral.
