well i have 2 vortech mp40w's on a 36" 90g tank and they produce a good ripple effect on the surface. that should work right?
thanks for the video..i see what you mean about the shimmer differences...decisions decisions..
also the shimmer is nothing like a radium and you won't get that with leds...:( a radium is one big light source that throws a awesome shimmer the leds give you millions of small ones it's a totally different look honestly.... i would try to find a lfs or local friend with led's to look at before making the switch...
troy are your fans pushing or pulling??
at full intensity on any of my fixtures when the fans are running my fingers will heat up the fixture before the LEDs themselves. I keep the big fixture around 82degrees
Lee are you using fans on the fixture now? I know before you were not? Mine gets hot but I can still leave my fingers on it for long time.... So I guess I would say warm not hot.
He's Stealin mah thunda!
jkjkjk LOL
heres the vid, the shimmers at the end and I figured id to two birds with one stone.

Excellent video of how easy they are to control. What whites are you using, they look pretty yellow? I have my Apex set up with 3 of my favorite settings- a 10,000K look, a 14,000K look and a 20,000K look. I normally keep mine on in the middle setting.

cool whites, as you adjust the power to leds they perform on a different spectrums.
Could this be brand dependent? I have spectral data from a wide variety of LED colors and whites from work I did at a National Laboratory... and did not get this variability in white spectra...
