Hey everyone I have been debating on getting optics for my 2 DIY led lights..they have 55 3w leds a piece and have 120 degree optics now. I'm currently running these on a 72 bow front. Anyone think I need to go with a more focused optic or should the 120 work? Also the lights are 6-7 inches from water surface.

I think you are more than likely fine right now. The height and amount of LEDs you have with 120 optics should be good for your size tank. If you raised the light up above 10" then I would suggest tighter optics.

10-12" = 80 degree, 12-16" = 60 degree, 16-24" = 40 degree from my testing to get a good blend of light and intensity if spaced 1.5"-2" apart.

DO YOU THINK TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS ARE MORE HELPFUL OR HURTFUL TO REEFING?
