A rather bad photo of my 3-4” Deresa. Would love a Squamosa but maybe not right now as I would rather not have 2 clams that get over 1’ long. This is the same reason I probably won’t get a Maxima or Noae in the nearer future. Would love a Crocea though

I saw a beautiful young (1”) Tridacna Squamish yesterday and if it’s there next time I go to that LFS I think I’ll be coming home with a small clam collection starting.

I that a Squamie?
It’s beautiful. Definitely a stunning clam, looking forward to seeing it grow.
DERASA it was about 5 inches when I purchased it now over 7 inches. Online from Unique Corals. Had about 6 months. Had a blue rimmed DERASA it was growing well but died. Got a book on clams. Worth every penny. Giant Clams by James Fatherre. Two things required healthy clam and more light. Friend kept having trouble with Maxima clams and gave up told him he needed about 650 par. Clams can slowly starve to death from lack of light even with the shell growing.
I feed the fish and clam feeds off the frozen foods, you can watch clam filter water something the first one did not appear to do.. It is in about 375 par estimate or between two unos running 180 watts each peak of day. Learn more about light and stable water for clams have better luck. Just going to have to start over when I need to give clam to someone with more room.

3 inch Crocea Clam with a parasitic Pea Crab living in it when I first acquired them.

It's been 6 months now, clam is growing well with no side effect from the crab (touch wood). I feed it with phytoplankton daily, as I heard this tiny crab steals food filtered inside the clam.

Here are my 3 clams (2 crocea, 1 noae) I recently acquired a maxima also but haven’t had a chance to photograph it yet.

That clam looks like a galaxy. Absolute stunner, I bet it looks even nicer in person.

I did it… I gave in with the clam addiction. I came home from the LFS with what is assumed to be a Squamosa x Maxima hybrid. Here’s both my clams in one top down.

And a slightly more closeup top down of the new clam :)
