It is. I had a couple good size chunks back in 2008ish and 2012 but those are long gone.

I’ve got a frag of what was sold to me as Ice fire but what is probably a frag from an Australian Blue tip echinata colony that came in. Growing now after it came in with AEFW. Has actually been surprisingly resilient. I’d imagine it’s pretty hard to find the original coral from Aquascene, if it even exists at all anywhere, anymore.

I hope it continues to do well for you.
Would love to see the progress!

That's what I had years ago. The Aussie echinatas are nicer with more white in the branch..........good score!

I bought 3 frags like the one you have recently.........two died in 4 weeks or so. 3rd did well for about 3-4 months before it died.

Thanks! Yea we’ll see how it goes. I thought it was a goner after the first couple weeks when it started stning. Found a single patch of eggs at the base and one single massive flatworm came off in a dip. Dipped everything else for 3 weeks but didn’t find anymore FW.

Since then it has recovered and started growing. Hope to plant it in the display here in the next couple months. I’ll keep this thread updated.

I agree the Aussie echinatas are more appealing, although I did fall in love with that old picture of the aquascene mother colony from the 2000’s. That one you had was the best I’ve ever seen.

It feels surreal to finally have this coral after so many years.

These are commonly coming in right now. I don't think vendors want them because of the poor track record. Vendors/wholesalers have to buy full boxes and get what they get. They really don't sell fast because because the blue head group doesn't really care for blue & white corals that can't be manipulated by light to look like something they aren't. I would also think that most heavy blue tanks are going to make the white areas turn green.

I think that was my lack of picture taking ability. It is dead now though. I've gone 0/3 on these.
There a pain. I’ve done ok with an Indonesian one about ten years ago but every time I looked at it I snapped a bit off. Eventually it gave up growing back. I’d love to try again but I’m not paying for an expensive imported Ozzy one that is already stressed to the max and risky for parasites.

Here’s what I think is an Aussie Ice/Fire Echinata….with my Oregon tort to the right…..a Turaki underneath…..and another unknown bottle brush type acropora to the left.
Sure looks like it. You got the touch Steve. Beautiful tank.
