Lighting for 'tall' aquarium

When I was given the aquarium, she said one of the lights broke she she replaced it with an unopened box containing a light good for freshwater (?!).

Anyway, I want to replace for a reef light but not quite sure where to start looking...I've been told my aquarium is 'tall' and I will be having trouble lighting if I want to keep hard and/or soft corals down the road.

By my calculations, I have a 'tall' 35 gallon aquarium. 30" x 12" x 22" = 7920/231 = 34.28 gal...so for sake of ease, I'm just rounding up to 35.

Advice of model/brands/etc? I don't have anything in the aquarium but don't want to replace the light or 'wish I had invested' down the road if I can help it...

You might want to look into one of those MarsAqua fixtures. My standard 20 gallon tank is not as tall as yours, but I can keep pretty much anything I want in this tank. GL.

Tanks between 18" and 24" deep are pretty standard. Most decent fixtures are able to produce reasonable par all the way to the bottom in a mixed reef tank. What is your budget and what corals are you planning on keeping?

It’s all about budget.
Next is livestock wants. Low or high par.

The B.B. is the least expansive option. I’m an SBreeflight fan.

Bells and whistles cost a bit more. Controllers ramping etc.

Also t5 is an easy option too.
