So I’ve wanted to use a finer grade of sand and I just got a new bag of Nature's Ocean® Bio-Activ Live® Aragonite Live Sand I already have an established tank I have removed the old sand I had in small
Increments and I’m now wanting to put the bag of sand in I’m just worried about it causing and ammonia spikes not sure if it will or not I already have live rock and sponges in the sump that have bacteria on them I have 4 fish inverts and coral would anyone know if it’s a good or bad idea it’s about 6 month mature it says instant cycling and to add fish but not everything is true is it

just dump it in a bucket and rinse it really well. as in over and over until the water runs perfectly clear. itll take a while. be sure to stir it around with your hand while you are rinsing

I wouldn't worry about ammonia. But if you don't rinse it, it will be cloudy. Some rinse, some don't. Your decision. There are several threads on rinsing sand.

Honestly if it's a small tank. You can put it in really slowly with a cup all the way to the floor and it won't even be cloudy for very long.

But rinsing it will kill the bacteria I’m wanting the different strains in my tank I’ll add it slowly and keep
An eye on ammonia I have a qt tank still running for future fish in the garage so if it get out of hand a transfer won’t be too hard to do until it settles back down I was just worried of any die off would cause a problem that’s all just better to ask if anyone has already done this thank you
