LiveAquaria website down?

Looks like they deleted their twitter posts

So sounds like someone is finally at the controls again. I'd expect a FB announcement soon - either an explanation of what's going on, or an announcement that they're closing their doors.

Everything is still there, have to be logged in to see everything.

Just my thoughts but the word is out that there are issues. Multiple unrelated references and actual customers stating they aren't receiving orders, haven't made contact, emails being returned, etc.......Not one single person has said anything to the contrary. Noone has said they received their order recently. Noone has said they just got an email explaining any issues. Their R2R account says they have not been active where they previously were. I feel like if this were some "misunderstanding or misinformation" someone would have spoken to it by now.......Just me thinking this?

No, I think you're absolutely correct. Most likely thing at this point is that they're gone. There are two other possibilities, and while they are things that happen, they're not terribly common. It's just too easy to communicate these days for me to think the other possibilities are at all likely.

First, they could have been hit by a ransomware attack that locked them out of website control and their social media accounts. If their phones run on VoIP, that could also take out the phones. This happens, but it's not exactly commonplace, and you would think that someone in Live Aquaria's chain of command would still have the ability to talk to people.

Second, they could have had their entire online control team either quit or get fired. Again, this happens, but even if it did you'd think that someone would have the ability to talk.

The simplest explanation that fits with everything we know is that they're gone.

Emails are going out as I just received one talking about a 25% off orders over 250 USD.

I can’t tell you how many fish I’ve ordered from them over the years. The Divers Den ones typically came in healthy and (mostly) disease free, but they’ve certainly gone downhill the last few years.

If they are out of business I would have thought they’d have a livestock fire sale prior to going under. They have to have a ton of inventory that they’d need to sell off.

If they’re done, it’s a sad ending for a once great company.

I hope not. I really enjoy their facility tours up in Rhinelander WI. Was hoping to go in the spring.

what happens if you click to place an order?

It is still taking you to a bad gateway, 502 error. However the past few days I did not get any daily emails which is typical. I've also noted that their FB had an update about 5 hours ago with a sale. Elsewhere I read a post about the site being down due to a virus or similar issue. Could be plausible as a few credit unions got hit by ransomware earlier in the year.

Could be scheduled, automatic, not sure. Just noted what came across my wire. Hard to say until we read something official. Not trying to spread mindstories.

earlier reports have said that recently they were consistantly "out of stock" on common items for long periods of time or never having them back in stock

I only ordered through the Divers Den (WYSIWYG) so I never had that problem, but that would certainly be telling.

Just to also add, the parent company that owns them "CIS International Holdings Corp" website is also no longer available, so it seems the entire conglomerate is in shambles? https://www.cisintl.com/
I met up with the owner of CSI, Sam, a couple years back. He is a Sri Lankan man and owner of Live Aquaria. Money was tight for him at that point as market share for LA had been dwindling. I’ll reach out and find out what’s up. Doesn’t surprise me though based on our conversations

One thing I Do know,, , , , If you are getting your shipment as scheduled, they Always send an email by 7pm verifying shipment went out along with Tracking info and you may get an email from shipper FedEx or UPS also with delivery schedule acknowledgement

I noticed that immediately when getting back into the hobby early this year…

It started with sticker shock at the exponential price increases on many species, then led to curiosity as I found entire categories of livestock listed as “out of stock”

I wasn’t checking weekly, mind you, but as far as I know, the majority of out of stock livestock listings were never updated to be back in stock for over six months…

Sad, as someone who's just getting back into the hobby and in the information/research phase they had very good info on most fish which was useful. Most sites just say hey this is the fish, take it or leave it, and they give parameters, uses, temperament, what it pairs well with, etc.

Just about every fish I have in my 500 came from Divers Den. Been/was buying from LA and DR's F&S since the early 2000's at least until the last few years.

They were the best and just about the biggest in the biz from cats/dogs to horses and fish until Petco bought them out, shut it down and sold LA off in 2015. I remember going to their frag swaps and touring the state-of-the-art aquaculture facility and ginormous warehouse they shipped dry goods from.

Anyone up in the Northwoods near Rhinelander WI that can drive over and see if at least the retail store is still open?
