I’m here to shame my betta, Phantom. He was such a lovely copper, deep emo looking guy. Now he’s uh… whatever this is.

So, we have just come into a bit of financial despair, and have a month to come up with some cash. I may have to let the 70 go. I really don’t want to but it’s the most valuable thing I have, surprisingly. With that said, I’m not even sure what to ask for it. Hinges are rusty from salt, some scratches in the glass.

I’m thinking I’ll need to sell the 70, the 10 gallon system, and the Fluval flex. Possibly two of the betta tanks as well. The 35 sill stay, I can’t give up Sideshow Bob and Selma. And my old senior betta, Toph.

I just. I don’t know what else to do.

As it stands I’ll be putting anything on this tank on hold.m once the lid comes. Hubbs assured me that we can get this taken care of, but I’ll be bracing for impact. Those who pray, please keep us in your thoughts that we can overcome this. It’s not a lot to some but to us it is quite a bit.

Don't forget to tag up to 3 I believe. Calmwaters might be a good tag - she's "rescued is my favorite breed" or something like that.

halfway there (I think it was a month on mine?)
Yeah I believe the site said about that. They never answered my message, but I did just order anyhow lol. Maybe they just saw it was not worth their time to answer since I placed the order. I would still like to know if they included the overflow cutout or if I’ll have to pull my glass lid.

had to do some general maintenance stuff yesterday, since we were out of town Saturday.

Friday I saw an ISO post in marketplace looking for some aquariums. It was a fairly new reptile rescue and I figured since I’m not using the ten gallon “hermit crab” tank not the 25 gallon paludarium, they could get more use from them. I hunted the screen tops and the glass doors and they picked them up. They seemed very happy with them. I’m hoping they get some use out of them. Not gonna lie, the ten gallon served me very well in the past and I’ll surely miss having the “just in case” there. But that will also keep me from going “I’ve got a spare tank so why not.” lol. The larger was a bit more shallow than I wanted anyhow.

Gotta clear up some space for the Eden that’s likely never happening anyhow. Hubbs said we will be just fine, even with this surprise expense, and I do hope so. Still holding back and saving up as a just in case. I do have to go this week for some fish food and I noticed one of the smaller heads on the euphilia wasn’t open yesterday so an AFR order is in the plans. Hopefully it can wait til Friday. I know the clowns will absolutely starve without their mysis for a single day. I may have to give them brine shrimp. The horror.

My friend Julie is supposed to be getting the albis and their tank before she moves pull-up north. I wish she’d give me a time frame so I can have them and the tank ready. I’ll be boxing it back up and have the fishes in a container. This gets me down to seven setups. Two of which will be boxed up when the bettas pass.

I was looking at where the 10 gallon was yesterday thinking “I bet that GloFish tank would be super cool right there.” lol. I’m just annoyed trying to get the stuff up for it and this stand is a thorn in my side. I want a canister. But making a lid with exact cutouts will be hard and I am scared to drop almost 200$ on something my fish may leap out from. Internals would be much easier because of cord cutouts but they’re a little tacky. I’m still in the fence.

I did manage to catch a non clamped non overdramatic photo of my unnamed alien though. He’s so cute.

Got the day off today, so will play with the tanks a bit.

I’m looking into dosing on the 35 gallon, the amino acids and the AFR(when I get some more that is… and ran across this. It looks nice. Great brand in the fresh community. https://www.chihirosaquaticstudio.c...osing-pump-mate-system?variant=43824422322394

They do have a four pump system as well but idk if I’ll need that one.

Last night looking in on my old samurai betta, I fear I may be close to euthanizing her :( the tumor I noticed on her cheek has grown a lot and she’s not really eating. She does look for food but won’t actively eat it. I fear she will starve.

I have to get a new pump to set the UV up. Hot Lips doesn’t seem bothered. I may shut the skimmer off. I have to check water params.

Last night I turned the pumps off to get the dinos out, or at East what floats. I got distracted, forgot and went to bed. Oops. Hot Lips is a bit mad but I’ll finish up when I get home a turn the pumps back on.

It’s coming up on the anniversary of my dads passing, and I’m trying to create things to keep me busy this weekend and hoping Monday will also go swiftly and quietly. If my pain goes down I may reinstall the pond.

Was not able to make it to the shop today for fish food, but Hubbs grabbed some raw frozen shrimp from Wally mart. I’m hoping this can do ok for this week. They are used to mysis and brine.

I have some Red Sea ab+ and two other types of amino acids. Do you guys think soaking some chopped up shrimp in some of any of this would be beneficial? I do add the aminos directly to the tank. I just don’t think that benefits the fish much.

Today marks seven years without my dad. :( I’ll be ok. I always dread this holiday now.
