I've installed a Gavita Pro 270e LEP 270 watt fixture over the middle of the tank. I'm currently looking for 2 more, one for each end. I'm really loving this light! The Mags, after only a couple of days, appear to be fuller and larger.so.. whats the details on the light ? brand , available to hobbyists , pics ?
Thank you!Not bad , my friend ! when u can post how you mounted them... I like the price point , btw

Thanks Randy! Yeah, it's a bit big. Too bad it doesn't have a remote ballast. But honestly, it doesn't look too bad over the tank from the front, smaller in profile than most halide pendants.great to watch!
If that light wasn’t the size of a small car, I’d put it high in my list. lol
Maybe with a little effort -you could figure out a way to make it a remote ballast...Thanks Randy! Yeah, it's a bit big. Too bad it doesn't have a remote ballast. But honestly, it doesn't look too bad over the tank from the front, smaller in profile than most halide pendants.
Make sure to watch in 4K!!!
Thank you! Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.Very nice video! What are you using to video your tank?
Here's another model actively cooled that runs coolerThat is very cool. Had I not known, I would have guessed it was a solatube on a bright summer day. I'm guessing it puts out monster PAR numbers?
Hello! Yes, the Gavita is running full power. Once I get my other two fixtures, I do plan on getting the controller. These are dimmable, however, I do plan on running them at full power 6 to 7 hours a day. I'll let the Red Sea Reefled 160's handle the morning and dusk ramping. Is the Gravita running full power?
From the before and after pics of the new light looked like you added a few more mags since they extended so much just crazy!
Do they run hot ?
Super curious how ur corals will respond looks like the par is off the charts Ha!
Thank you! A solartube would have been my first choice, but this tank is on the lower level of the house and therefore, not possible. However, this plasma fixture puts out a very nice clean sunlight spectrum. According to their spectral graphs, it is very very close to natural sunlight. I don't have a PAR meter, so I can't test that, but fortunately, I don't have to worry about excessive PAR since Magnifica drink it up!That is very cool. The Pro 300 model requires a fan and duct work to prevent the heat from blowing out into the room. I didn't want to mess with all that. You can see how the Pro 300 is intended to be run in this video:Here's another model actively cooled that runs cooler![]()
Indeed! I love the light this puts out. Colors of fish, corals, nems, is amazing and very natural. Plus, the reported longevity of this bulb is amazing, upwards of 20K to 30K hours before significant spectral shift.
