Mangrove Quarantine

I just ordered a red mangrove propagule and it'll be here tomorrow. It should be about 6-8" long. I've never had one before so I don't know if it needs to be quarantined or not. I would think not because it doesn't have a hard surface for parasites to attach to. Any ideas?

I don't think so either. Plant tissue isn't able to host a tomont. A good rinse in a bucket before adding it to the tank should be sufficient.

The one study that was done on tomont encysting didn't mention plants, but my "best guess" is you probably are safe. Just give it a good rinse to "wash away" any free swimmers which might be inadvertently attached to it.
