Go big or don't goo at all. For a few dollars more get the RO/DI unit

RO is pretreatment for DI. It takes both to get reef quality water. Look at the Spectrapure site for a reef quality RO/DI for only $125. You won't find a better system at that price.

I've used ro only in the past with great results. We also use it for drinking because we have terrible water, my understanding is that it's not a good idea to drink di water
