I have been thinking about posting up my tank for awhile now. I have been back in this hobby for about a year and a half after taking a 10 year break. It was an eye opener to say the least. Instead of buying nice sized chunks of more earthen colored corals, almost everything was being offered was tiny little coral fragments. Larger chunks were still available, but at a price. The selection and colors available were amazing. I set up a small 46bf freshwater for the wife a few months prior to me setting up a tiny 16bf nano. Needless to say the wife got right into the thick of it as well and the wife to hubby ratio of corals in this tank was heavily skewed in my wife's favor(after all she is the boss :kiss: ). Like magic the 46bf was now a reef. The classic story, this sickness started up again due to buying my son a beta. I should have known better! We set up the 46 in a really basic manner, hob skimmer and an aqua clear to hold some carbon and phosphate remover, a few power heads and heater and off we went. All went petty well for a few months then the center brace broke on the tank. While the tank was in storage apparently the plastic had gone brittle. Tank was still full of water so I did my best fix with duct tape, j/k. Actually I used a few zip ties, melted holes in the brittle plastic, and sucked em up a bit. That lead to the easy decision to buy a new tank! We could not go to big so we went with an aga 75E. We have had a lot of ups and downs since coming back to the hobby. Mainly algae outbreaks of every type imaginable. Now we still have a little bit of a lot of different types, but the growth on them as slowed almost to a halt. A local club member has been suggesting I need to install a turf scrubber instead of running my GFO but I am on the fence about it. Well on with the hardware:
75g tank aga 30g sump running Bare Bottom
SWC 160 skimmer
4 bulb(yup only 4!) ATI fixture with 2 blue + and 2 Aquablue specials 10hrs B+'s and 8hrs on the Aquablue's.
Mag 5 return pump, 3 Koralia 2 power heads, one Tunze 6045
Ebo heater hooked up to a reef keeper lite
Parameters:
I live in a high Co2 environment so my PH stays pretty low in the winter. With a daily kalk drip it stays around 7.8-7.9

I have just cheap nitrate and phos test kits. No color on the phos but I am assuming anything not absorbed bye the GFO is getting sucked up by the various algae.
I use one cup of BRS GFO and one cup of BRS carbon and replace them monthly. I sometimes change the carbon a bit sooner.
Water changes are 10g every 2 weeks with RO/DI and RC's salt.
For fish we have a pair of clowns, a golden blenny, lawnmower blenny, and a purple tang. I would like to add either a six line, or mystery wrasse in the future, but leaving it up to the wife to pick.
Well I think that about covers it so far, so on with the pics:
