Mesh on overflow?

I bought something very similar to seasalted for three reasons: I got tired of fishing my wrasses out of the overflow, I was growing massive amounts of algae in there, and I was worried about a snail getting inside and stopping up my drain. You could probably DIY one much cheaper, but this is another option

oh well, I guess I missed the "window of opportunity",my life story. making them a little larger, makes a world of difference. I certainly don't miss the "green wig" hanging inside the overflow.lol Or the scraping of the openings. Reef-ON!

I could not find anything that I felt comfortable with
To blackout the overflow I did get a sheet of gutter guard... Here is the pic. I will black out my sump once I find black acrylic I might have to head to Michaels or something. Thanks again everyone for your help...
