I am desperately searching for a Geisemann fixture. I have a 36" reef brite, but those Geisemann are a work of art.

When I was running my 3 halides 250w hqi with phoenix 14k this was my numbers.. tank is 24” deep

That’s crazy low numbers. I run 250w radions on Hamilton hqi ballasts (330w) and I see 300 par on the bottom of the tank and about 700-750 at the top corals. I’m not able to run electronic ballasts even if I wanted to. They make my hydros controller wacky for some reason lol

That does seem low. Im getting almost 1000 par at the water surface with 250W XM 10k on Reefbrite ballasts.

I did. They stopped production as they are updating the Spectra. They will have new fixtures out in about 8 weeks!!

My Giesemann is 9-10” off the water. Maybe even 11”. I kept raising it until I had a blanket of SPS PAR over the whole tank. It’s a 36” over a 48” tank

Nope. I see a 1.5º uptick with the halides running. The enclosures run aruond 100º and don't even heat up the area they are in. Perks to a basement tank. Any and all heat is actually welcome in my setup

That shouldn't be a problem at all.

I run 250 watt radiums on HQI magnetic ballasts…I’m in the same boat at @jackson6745….700+ PAR easily on top 1/3 of tank. When I ran electronic ballasts it was about 20% less. 350-400 PAR should be just fine though if you can get the coverage figured out over your tank.

What size tank do you have? Are you running 2 halides? Do you have PAR readings on the sand bed?

I would not worry about par. That setup will grow anything quite well and fast.
My 120 2 250 de 14k, 14" off the surface.

Nice setup! Are those Reef Brite reflectors? Are you running e-ballasts or M80? Also, what LED bars are those? The outside look like XHO.

Thanks. That’s a giesemann spectra fixture with reefbrites, and AI blades in place of the T5’s. I’m running 250w radiums, 2 of them driven by Hamilton m80’s, and one is run by lumatek adjustable ballast. Both ballasts overdrive the bulb to 330w. FWIW I used i-power ballasts from Amazon with 400w and they run a radium bulb overdriven as well.

I don’t get a ton of par from my halides. Depending on The bulb I use, I can squeeze some out. But in my opinion running Hybrid T5/LED/Halide is the stuff dreams are made of. I’m about 16” off the water, I have the high intensity lenses on the XR30s. The T5s are 7-9” off the water. My rocks go about 1/3rd up the water column and I have 900 par at the top of my rocks and 550-600 on the sand. I’m waiting on some M80’s so I can run some Radium’s. I’m surprised the XR30s are staying glued together. I’m now at 100% all channels and schedule in full spectrum, and that is for 9.5 hours out of the 14 hours they are on. The fans are on 9 of those hours. While I hate these LEDs because of Mobius and their price tag when new, I will say as I knock on wood, I have been beating the hell out of them and they haven’t spilled their beer yet.
